Create a festive New Year’s elf with this free amigurumi pattern from @proshka.toys. The elf’s clothing is crocheted as part of the body and can be customized with your favorite colors. This doll is perfect for holiday décor or as a gift. The finished doll is made using semi-cotton yarn and measures approximately

  • Alize Cotton Gold yarn: 67-beige, 385-green, 01-milk, 493-dark brown

  • YarnArt Jeans yarn: 84-gold, 67-lemon, 70-brown (for boots)

  • Crochet hook: 1.75 mm

  • Toy eyes: 8 mm

  • Stuffing for toys

  • Stitch markers

  • Pins

  • Small bell

  • Needle for sewing details

  • Scissors

Abbreviations (US terms):

  • MR = magic ring

  • ch = chain

  • sc = single crochet

  • hdc = half double crochet

  • dc = double crochet

  • sl st = slip stitch

  • inc = increase (2 sc in same stitch)

  • dec = decrease (sc2tog)

  • (...) x n = repeat instructions n times


Hands (make 2)

Yarn: Beige

  1. 6 sc in MR

  2. (sc, inc) x 3 — 9 sc

  3. (2 sc, inc) x 3 — 12 sc

  4. 12 sc

  5. dec, 8 sc, dec — 10 sc
    Change to green yarn:
    6–22. 10 sc (17 rows)

Stuff lightly. Fold in half and crochet 5 sc on both sides. Cut yarn.


Head

Yarn: Beige

Stuff as you crochet.

    10–14. 54 sc (place eyes between rows 12/13, 5 sc apart)

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.


Ears (make 2)

Yarn: Beige

  1. 8 sc in MR

  2. ch 3, from 2nd loop from hook: 2 sc, sl st in first sc of MR

Fasten off, leaving a long tail. Sew ears between rows 12–15 of the head.


Legs (make 2)

Yarn: Brown, then Milky, Gold, and Green stripes as noted

  1. Ch 8; from 2nd ch from hook: 3 sc in first loop, 6 sc, 5 sc on other side, inc — 16 sc

  3. 8 sc, dec, 6 sc — 15 sc

  4. 6 sc, 3 dec, 3 sc — 12 sc

  6. Switch to Milky, back loops 11 sc brown, front loops 11 sc Milky. Cut brown yarn.
    7–8. Milky 11 sc
    9–10. Gold 11 sc
    11–12. Milky 11 sc
    13–14. Gold 11 sc
    15–16. Milky 11 sc
    17–18. Gold 11 sc
    19–20. Milky 11 sc

  7. 11 inc — 22 sc
    22–23. 22 sc

  8. Change to Green 22 sc, back loops 22 sc

Fasten off first leg. Do not cut yarn for second leg; continue body.


Body & Shorts

Shorts (green): Attach yarn to front loops of row 25, hook pointing down.

1–3. 22 sc

Fasten off, cut yarn.

Body:

  • 10 sc along second leg, ch 2, join marker.

Embroider buckle on strap.


Collar (Lemon)

  1. Ch 19

  2. From 2nd ch from hook: sc, [(5 ch, from 2nd ch: sc, hdc, 2 dc), skip 2 ch, sl st] x 6

Sew to body.


Hat (Green → Lemon)

  1. 6 sc in MR
    2–27. Increase gradually, following the pattern: 6 sc, inc; 8 sc, inc; … up to 46 sc
    28–30. Switch to Lemon, 46 sc, crochet alternating loops from current and previous rows
    Fasten off, sew small bell to hat tip.


Hair (Dark Brown)

Attach yarn to last row of hat (wrong side). Crochet only in front loops:

  • 4 ch, sc in next front loop … to end
    Fasten off, leave long tail, sew hair to head.
